Made from corn grain, cornstarch is used to thicken sauces and jellify food. Very fine white powder, cornstarch has a bitter taste that disappears once it is thinned into hot liquid.

To prevent the starch from forming lumps, thin a small amount of cornstarch in hot water and then, add it to your sauces.
